The Kingdom of God Is in You

Today is a general fasting and as instructed by the church, we are fasting for the second half of the year. The Bible says, commit your ways unto the Lord and your thoughts shall be established. And there is something in the mind of God concerning the church. Unless we sit down at the feet of Jesus to hear what he's saying, we are likely to run into error.

Unless people sit down and ask God, God, what is your mind concerning us? Where are you taking us to? What is the next step? We will be moving like blind people.

Jesus is the owner of the church. Like every, for example, in every company, the CEO is giving instructions on how the business, the trajectory of the business for the next half of the year. People are planning, they are doing a survey, looking back and everything planning. Don't you think Jesus is doing the same thing?

Do you think that Jesus that made people, you know, Jesus is the owner, everything belongs to Him. He created all flesh, so he created the CEOs. So the way that mind they are using to plan their business, don't you think there's higher dimension of planning even for the church? So Jesus also has a plan for his church.

There is something he wants to do for the second half. But we must be able to listen. So if you notice what how God has been leading us, thank God, so far from January till now. If you look at the patterns and all the teachings, you see that God is trying to help us to understand our identity in Christ and to know who we are.

Last week we spoke about the making of sons. Last week, Tuesday, right. We wrapped up that session showing how the Father wants us to be sons. Indeed.

And today God would like us to understand something about his kingdom. And today the topic is the kingdom of God is in you. The kingdom of God is in you. The kingdom of God is in you.

Another way you say it is, the kingdom of God is here, right? Now the first question I'll ask you is, do you really believe that God's kingdom is here? Now let me tell you one of the biggest misconception about the kingdom of God, especially even in the time of, in the time of Jesus, right when Jesus was on earth, this thing was a serious problem. In fact, it's one of the most, one of the biggest confusions that's in history, right when the Pharisees and all the scribes and everyone was reading about the Messiah, the coming Messiah, you know what they were thinking?

They were, because at that time the Romans were ruling Israel, right? You know, Israel has suffered a lot in the hands of different kingdoms. Right. Different kingdoms conquered them and took them to their land and made them slaves and everything.

So one of the last ones that the Bible mentioned was the Roman Empire was the last one, right. So the Roman Empire was, Was dominating and terrorizing them, taking over their lands and so many things. So they were under pressure. They were under that kingdom.

So when they kept on reading the scripture, do you know what they were reading when they were reading about Messiah? Their mind was that they are waiting for this Messiah that will come and take over the Roman Empire, that they will seize power from, from the Roman Empire. Just like King David, like, you know, all these kings that God raised in the Old Testament, they will come and take over the land and all those things. So they were thinking that the Messiah is going to be another person that will come with most, like, different, like a big army with chariots running, running to come and take over the Rome kingdom, will just come and kill the king of Rome that time and restore Israel back to their land.

That was what they were expecting. Because if you read all the books of the prophet, the way they were describing it was as if it was a physical thing. And let me tell you what is happening again today. The same thing is repeated itself today.

Jesus now tried to correct them without analogy. That is what we want to look at today. And I ask, pray that the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to understand, because the way you receive this word today will determine how you live your life on earth. And we are getting there.

So first, let's look at the. Let's look at the context. Let's look at the scripture that backs up this claim that the kingdom of God is in you. And I will explain some of the myths or some of the things that we always think about.

And I'll explain why we thought that it was only about the kingdom of God is heaven. When you say the kingdom of God is at hand, your mind is that rapture is coming soon. Now, I explain this. So when you read the original translation, the Greek word of all of this, you see what was going on there.

This is why it's important that we study our Bible, right? Not just what you hear from the pulpit. You go and sit down the way you go to school, carry your dictionary, carry your concordance, carry them, sit down with it. Sit, sit down for hours and study.

Check what is going on. Draw a map. You will begin to see a lot of things that, ah, so this was what they meant. But all we did was we grew up hearing this and you now take it.

That is why you see, a lot of Christians are being very complacent with their lives in the sense that you are just waiting for heaven to Jesus to come again and go to heaven. So you are just, what, sitting down. You isolate yourself from the whole world. You, if it's possible, you can stay inside one mountain and lock yourself so that you don't mingle with the world and stay like that and wait for Jesus to come.

That is not the kingdom. You see, because of that mindset, many people choose to just stay inside and lock themselves and just be praying, fasting, reading Bible eating. Just stay inside. You don't want to move too much so that you don't fall and miss heaven.

Dig it. That is the mindset. And you see, devil also have been played with that thing. He knew that.

Ah, if I like this mindset, these people have let me do it like that so that they will stay. And guess what? You don't dominate. You just stay inside.

Your light is not shining. You stay inside one room like that. That's what many Christians are doing today. That's how many people don't come out.

They don't want to. Now let me show you what Jesus was doing. Let's look at it. I asked Holy Spirit to help us in this thing.

It might be a long study, but we trust Holy Spirit to help us. First, let's look at where Jesus said it clearly. But okay, let me start from here. Let's look at the book of Luke, chapter 17, verse 21.

Then we now look at the context in the previous verses. He said Luke 17:21 very clearly. He said, nor will they say, see here, sit there. For indeed the kingdom of God is within you.

Now let's look. Now let's go to the actual thing. There let's study the backstory. Luke, chapter 17, verse 20.

Let's look at it fully. You see, I pray. You see this. You see, you know, when the Bible says that your words, the lamp on my feet and the light onto my part, this is what he meant.

Here you, you see, let's look at Luke, chapter 17, verse 20. Now see, he said, and when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, the kingdom of God commit not with observation. Listen carefully, the kingdom of God does not come with observation. These Pharisees, I told you now I.

If when I saw this, I was asking, why is the Pharisees asking this question? Why are they asking? They asked like rabbi, when is the kingdom of God going to come? When Is this kingdom going to come?

Because they knew that Jesus was a great teacher, but they were still doubting that he's actually the Son of God. But they knew that he's a teacher, so they wanted to test him. When is this kingdom going to come? Now I asked myself, why is Pharisees asking this question?

Shouldn't they know better? I now went to go and do a deep study. Who are the Pharisees? The Pharisees are people that are very skillful in interpreting the law.

They were the ones that guarded the law, the law of Moses and all those things. So they were like the experts in this thing. But guess what? Despite their expertise and everything, they still could not understand when Jesus was talking about the kingdom.

That's why they asked that question. Jesus was not trying to tell them, it's not a matter of when. Look at it though. It was not a matter of when he asked the question.

He said, it does not come with observation. In is not something you. It's not something that you say, Ah, see the kingdom of God there. See the kingdom of God there, He said, for indeed look at it, he said, neither shall they say is here or is there.

For the kingdom of God is within you. Is within you. And Jesus, he now went looked at it, he now said verse 29. And he said to his disciple, the days will come when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man.

And ye shall not see it. So Inasarga explaining some things of the end times, this thing. But now let's focus on that part. Why is Jesus seeing this thing?

For us to understand this, let's look at what the ancient context of kingdom was. Now in ancient times, a kingdom was not merely a piece of land. You know when you say kingdom of God, every of us looking at saying, most of him say builder land. Builder land.

And I'll tell you the two dimensions. I pray the Holy Spirit, you understand what I'm saying? I'll tell you two dimensions. In ancient time, the kingdom was not merely a piece of land.

It was kingdom basically existed where the king authority was exercised. Let me give an example. Now you are a CEO of a company. I established my company in Lagos.

Then I said I want to expand. And I established in Akwaibom, I established in different states in Lagos. And I said okay, let's go further. Take note though.

I started my Jerusalem, I went to Judea, I went to Samaria, I went to the angel and I said, let me establish in Canada, uk, London. Now look at this, look at it there. Now, when that CEO establishes a branch of his company in another country, Meanwhile, the original place is Lagos. What has he done there?

Basically, his kingdom has come to that place. But guess what? That seal may never even for once set foot on that land. Canada.

Like physically, he may never even have stepped there. But how come his kingdom is there? Because of what? The authority and the presence of of his rulership or his domain or an extension of his kingdom.

I don't know if I get my question. So when you understand what is going on there, you see that what God is trying to do is not about us. Just like I asked you, if the goal was just to go back, why then are we still here? Let me give my life to Christ and go back to heaven.

No, God is trying to establish his kingdom here on earth. On this earth. And he now said that the kingdom of God is within you. What does that mean?

It means that at that point when Jesus was saying that thing, Jesus was standing with them and he was trying to tell them. And they still not, you see, they still could not understand it. Jesus was standing, he was trying to tell because I am here. The kingdom of God is what Here.

So when we say the kingdom of God is here, the kingdom of God is in you. I'm just trying to tell you that Jesus the Father Jesus is in you is already a proof that God's kingdom is here. You see this thing I'm saying, as simple as it is, it's one of the deepest things that you can understand. And it will shift the way you think and shift the way you behave in this life, basically.

So the kingdom is present because the king, his presence and is what reigning is alive. So what is the kingdom of God? The kingdom of God is basically God's reign. Wherever Christ reigns, the kingdom is there.

Wherever Christ reigns, the kingdom is there. So now want to look at. So I've explained what the kingdom is basically and I'm explaining. So if you look at the original word for kingdom, kingdom does basically means ruling power, the sovereignty, dominion.

So when Jesus says kingdom is talking about the presence of God, authority, breaking into human life, that's what we're talking about when we say the kingdom of God. Now let me tell you another aspect that we always talk about. The full manifestation of God's kingdom is now the one that we are expecting. That's why I said right now we don't know how exactly we are going to look like.

That's what I'm paraphrasing in Zecharing said for we all with unveiled faces beholding us in a mirror like Jesus. So the more we keep building, we keep transforming until what Christ is formed in us. So you understand what is going on there. So it's a progression, right?

So the full manifestation of who we are will come when the end of time comes. So that is the one that people are always expecting. So many people have made to believe that they think, oh, kingdom of God is only when Jesus comes again. And they don't know that the kingdom of God is already here and now and reigning with us.

So that's what we are trying to correct. Now let's look at Romans 14, verse 7, Romans 14:17. Romans 14:17 said, for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

What is that thing trying to tell us? So that verse is trying to explain something that people were like thinking that when they say eating and drinking, they're referring to like rules and regulation. They were thinking that kingdom of God is about, oh, don't eat this, don't eat that, don't do this, don't do that, wear this, wear that. And the writer here, Paul, was trying to explain them that, no, no, no, it's not about all these rules and all these things.

But this is. Eli explained the nature of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is righteousness, is peace, is joy. So that means whenever you see the righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit in a place, just know that the kingdom of God is present.

Just know that the kingdom of God is present. So let me open it again. So you read. So just read a little bit there.

Romans, chapter 14, verse 17. So if you, if you read the preceding verse, you see verse 4, 15 say, if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably destroy not him with thy meat for whom Christ died. Let not your good be evil spoken of. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

So I was just trying to tell you that they were trying to say, oh, don't eat this one, don't do this one, don't do that one. That is not about the kingdom of God. Kingdom is not about all those things. One of the elements or one of the characteristics in that kingdom is what?

Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. So this tells us that for, for example, now in Babylon, if you want to describe the kingdom of Babylon, you see that Babylon was characterized with a lot of immorality, people chasing self. They're always looking at selfish ambition, everything about love of money. So you see all those words I'm mentioning, those are the characteristics of that kingdom.

Now Paul is trying to describe what the kingdom of God looks like. It is like, filled with righteousness, peace, joy in the Holy Ghost. That's the nature of God kingdom. And those are things that.

So what he's trying to tell you is that these are the things that should embody a believer. If we want the kingdom of God here, these things must be found for you to know that the King of God is here. I must see righteousness. I must see peace.

I must see joy in the Holy Ghost. That's it. Let's look at Luke 11:20. Luke 11:20.

Jesus said something. He said, but if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Did you hear that? You see, that means one of the things that characterizes God's kingdom is that there is a displacement of the works of darkness from that place.

If I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Now, whenever I say kingdom of God, understand that we are talking about the authority of God. I gave an example. Now when the company, a CEO be a company in US the same level of authority he has in.

In Lagos is the same level authority has in us because he has established his kingdom in that place. So I. Someone can behave there as if he's in the. As if he's the CEO.

That so the manager of that company in listing, what's it called in US has the same level of authority as the owner of the company because he's representing that kingdom here. See, when you have this mindset, this is why many people don't understand that they are ambassadors of Christ. If you don't understand your kingdom of God is here, you will not know how to live. As an ambassador of Jesus Christ, you are representing a kingdom.

That means when I go to a foreign land and I set foot there, if you don't have this consciousness, you will not understand what you are doing. When you go to your office, you'll know that I'm not just coming by myself. I'm. I'm carrying a whole kingdom into this place.

You, you just imagine if it's very dark. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying. See, like just like maybe like now there's some country states in, in. In the north that is being terrorized by Boko Haram.

Now, if I have the authority, maybe I'm the, I'm like a shooter, I'm a general. Or when I go there, I'm going with this authority. I'm representing the federal government of Nigeria, right? And I'm going to exercise my authority there.

So this is the reason why many people are lacking power because of this lack of understanding. You don't know what you carry inside you. Jesus Christ, the king of the universe, the king of the kingdom of God is inside you. That means I can exert the same authority that I have because he's inside you.

Imagine the vice president comes. The vice president, when they say, oh, even if the special advisor to the president, if the president said, oh, I want you to go on my behalf, do you know what that means? When the special advisor, the president goes to an event, it's as if the president is there. They you say, oh, the president was not able to come, but he sent his special advisor.

The way they honor that special advisor is the same way they honor the president, like because of the fact that he has been delegated authority. So you. He's not going to be working fragile, he's going to be working as. In fact, you see the amount of escorts and the person that will come out will not just be the, the person, ah, where's the president?

But because they know that C's escort, they will take him as president. That is how every single believer is. But the devil has robbed us many from this privilege. So we now start living small lives, living like, like you are a beggar.

You see darkness, you don't know how to exercise authority. We just keep folding, squeezing, squeezing, allowing darkness to press us down. It's. It's hard, it's heartbreaking.

I wonder how the heavens will be looking at us, right? You say, what are these people waiting for? Now I asked another question. Why did the Pharisees not understand this thing?

They asked, when would the kingdom of God come? The reason why they don't understand this is the answer. Will find it in what dichodemos the conversation of Nicodemus with Jesus Christ in John chapter 3. Let's look at John chapter 3.

Look at it from verse 3. John chapter 3, verse 3 said Jesus answered and said unto him very, very, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Now I'm sure many of us, when we read that scripture, you are only thinking about going to heaven. Okay, but I'm born again.

Can I see the kingdom of God, you don't know that God don't understand it. I've said that the reason why the Pharisees was asking that question is because they could not see that Jesus was the kingdom of God. Why could they not see? Because they were not born again.

Except a man be born again, he cannot see, see the kingdom of God. That's what he was trying to explain to them. Did you see that? So you, you were thinking that oh, when I give my life to Christ, I'm going to get that is when I see heaven.

You want to see the heaven, you want to see the gates. That's all you're already thinking because of that. He's not making you have this kind of will I say waiting mentality, which is okay. But if all, all that being born again makes you do is just to wait.

And the kind of waiting you are waiting is that you're not doing anything. Maybe you're just living normal life. You're just doing your work and making sure that you are still holy and staying like this. You just doing like this.

You're just working on your own, making sure your family is okay. And this thing, nobody is being impacted by your, by your salvation. Something is wrong. Let me tell you what this means.

But I read it that. But Jesus said, if I cast demon with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Jesus desire is that this kingdom spread. Look at what he gave the apostles, the instruction he gave them.

And you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, even to the ends of the earth. It is God's desire that my kingdom spread. Look at, look at every CEO, every like every knowledgeable CEO. The goal is not just to establish and stay in Lagos.

If when I look at people, I was asking somebody market, I saw somebody market that since I was a child, when I was in JS2 or just one, this one has been the market selling this thing. Fast forward how many years later I said, how is the thing going? Have you expanded? Ah, 10 years.

You are still in the same place. That means you don't have this mind for growth. I said, what is the challenge? He said, capital.

For 10 years, capital is still the challenge. You see, my people perish because of what lack of knowledge. The reason why a CEO is able to expand from Lagos to, to the ends of the earth, it's not because of capital. The first thing is knowledge.

He has the knowledge of, okay, there's room for more. There is growth, there's expansion. It's not just about making money. And just staying there, having money, he knows he has the mindset.

So because of that mindset, guess what? The things he need to expand will start coming. The first thing people don't understand, it's not about capital. Do you have the knowledge?

Do you know what it means to expand? Do you have that desire? When you know that there is more, you always want to expand. Jesus from the beginning of time, always when he was created human being, he said, have dominion, multiply, be fruitful, replenish the earth.

He wants his kingdom to spread. But here Christians are trying to make it full. They are trying to put it inside one place. He said, the kingdom of boys as a mustard seed.

You put it on the ground. And you know how a monster seed is. That small seed can become a very mighty tree. They gave a prophecy about it, like I think one of the prophets, even Jesus explained it, that it becomes a very mighty tree, that all the animals, plenty things can stay inside that tree.

You see expansion and it starts from where very small, you know, a must not see, you can't see it. The kind of God starts with the invisible and becomes visible. That's the same thing I said. The whole of creation waited for the earnest manifestation of the true sons of God.

That means when it first happens spiritually, then it now becomes visible to the whole world. So my Christian light must shine. It must be seen. Jesus must be seen.

Don't have this mentality that oh, I'm waiting for him. You give electrical. You lock the door and stay inside. Wait till you die or till rapture comes.

So you go to heaven straight so you don't fall into this is that means you are not insult. That means you're not a light. Just when you go to him just ask you so how did you represent me? Explain, talk to me.

How did you utilize my authority I gave you? Oh, oh, when you just thinking that, oh, I wanted you to be safe. So just come and sit down with me in heaven. Don't you know I've been with you already on earth?

So you want to come and sit down with me in heaven. So what did you do with all the things I gave you? Do you know that I had a large package for you without salvation? Oh, you are thinking just for you to just stay your own.

No, Let's look further. So now let's look at it. What does it mean for the kingdom of God to come? Now I told you that there is a what There are two dimensions of this thing, right?

The kingdom of God is in you because Jesus is In you now, the full manifestation of the kingdom, which is the one everybody wants heaven coming. And all those ones right? Is going to come, right? But when it's coming, why that one is coming?

There is work to be done. That's why. Jesus prayer. Look at Jesus prayer.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth. Now, I'm sure when you're reading that scene, you are thinking about heaven. The problem is you are thinking about.

About a physical land. You see, this thing is more spiritual than you think is physical. Your mind is always thinking is about heaven. Calm down.

Physical buildings. You see, even when Jesus went to describing the temple of God, many of us are thinking about physical temple. Jesus is trying to tell you that you are the temple of God. But that's beside us now.

Let's look at what it means for the kingdom of God to come come. The kingdom of God to come is a territorial conquest. It is a territorial conquest. Now let's fast forward.

Let's go back in time a bit. In the Old Testament, Just look at. Let's look at what the Israelites were doing when God brought the people out of Egypt into the wilderness. Ask yourself, what were they doing as they were moving through the wilderness?

God was allowing them to take over territories. They killed the king of Bashan. They killed Sion, they killed Amorites. They conquered Jericho.

I see what was going on there. What do you think God was doing? He was basically taking over territories. You take over this one.

What was he doing? Was expanding the kingdom of God. So you see that the original plan was not just for Israel, what Jesus would have done, taking them from Abigail or taking them from Egypt to the promised land. But no, it was a.

What? It was a expansion strategy. You enter this place, you. You was, don't you?

You said, kill everybody there so that there will not be contamination. Destroy all of them. Kill it, then dominate it. The reason why they started having issues because they were not doing fully what God said.

They were lying, some people. And those people eventually poisoned them. And that's how they started going astray. So you see that it was what?

Conquest. Conquest. You can't read through the Old Testament all those things that you are seeing. There was a physical distance.

But you come to the New Testament, notice that you don't hear any of those things again. What was happening was. Now it was more like spiritual. Anything that happened in the Old Testament is the shadow of the things to come.

Jesus was trying to explain that all those people were doing is what we are doing now. He wants us to take territories, but now we're not resting flesh and blood while battling with what principalities and power. So the kingdom of God coming is a way of claiming borders for God's kingdom. Now this, let's say this is the kingdom of God now.

This is kingdom of God now. How do you claim border is when you go to another place that is taken over by terrorists, for example, and you kill all the terrorists in that land. Guess what? You have expanded the reach of that kingdom.

You keep going like that, you keep going like that. Expanding, expanding. How does that look like in your day to day life? That's why Jesus said in Matthew 12:28, let's look at it.

Matthew 12:28, he said, but if I cast out demons by the spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. So that means whenever I remove the authority of Satan, whenever I cast out a demon, what have I done? I've brought the kingdom of God into that place. That's what Jesus was doing everywhere.

The Bible says he healed all those that oppressed. Whenever you heal the sick, whenever you just exercise God's authority in a particular location, we are doing what? Advancing the kingdom. When they say seek ye first, the kingdom of God and righteousness, everything on it, you are thinking it's about going to church and praying or just reading your Bible.

When you say how do you seek God's kingdom? I read my Bible every day. I read my devotion. Oh God, that one is good.

But it's not affecting. You are not taking over territories for Jesus. Since you gave your life to Christ, how many things have, how many lives have you claimed for Jesus? So whenever we enforce God's will on earth.

Example, when you praise God, you know the will of God is that all men should praise God. If you read through the book of Psalms, praising God is one of the ways you enforce God's will on earth. Making sure that other people praise God is one of the will of God on earth. Healing the sick is God's will on earth.

God wants everyone healing, right? Delivering people that are oppressed or demonic attack or maybe oppressed, physically casting out demons, helping the poor, giving to people, these are all what ways of enforcing God's will on earth. So whenever I enforce the will of God on earth, whenever I preach the gospel, whenever I enforce God on earth, what am I doing? I'm literally pushing back the borders of the kingdom of darkness.

You see that there's work to be done. But people, all what Satan is doing that he wants you to focus on all these mundane things. You just focus on going to work nine to five every day. And inside the work, all you are just focused on just the work to make money.

You are not, your eyes not open to see that the person beside you is. There's the king. The kingdom of darkness of one person. I can transfer light, and that's how I spread the kingdom.

You go to your CEO, you, the way you communicate, you are already pushing back the kingdom of darkness. When you start seeing that now, you see that there's work to be done. When God places you in a country or in a territory, in a house, you know that, oh, my job here is to advance the kingdom of God. So I'm.

My job here is I'm a soldier here. So I'm basically just looking and watching when I see somebody that is not saved. My job is to make sure that the light has come to that person and that person catches the light. That way, the kingdom of God is transferring.

That is how you seek the kingdom of God. Guess what? The more I keep doing this thing, God keep equipping me, giving me money, gives me food, give me water, make sure that I'm okay so that I can continue doing the work. This is the kingdom mindset.

If you have this mindset, you cannot be poor. The problem is you are focusing on those things that God wants to give you. You just focus on his work, focus on his job. Intercession.

You just stay in your room and you are just praying for souls. Yeah, you are what, Pushing the kingdom. You think God will see you interceding? I'll not fund you.

I'll not make sure they are okay. This guy is helping. He's pushing the kingdom. Bring more supplies, Give him more supplies, make sure he's okay so they can continue pushing.

That is how we advance God's kingdom. It's not by you coming to church. Go home, back on Sunday. Go back home.

And nobody's. Nobody's. You don't. You don't.

Okay, this message now, you don't even share it with somebody. You keep it to yourself. Keep everything. You just get to yourself.

What kind of. What are we doing? It's not. It's not meant to be.

So now another way you bring and what another way you. You ensure that the kingdom of God comes is what? Transfer of citizenship. Now when?

Now let's look at Colossians, chapter 1, verse 13. Colossians 1, verse 13. He says he has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. Did you hear that past tense?
