Attitude of Expectancy

The attitude of expectancy. The attitude of expectancy. Now, the two key words there are attitude and what? Expectancy, Attitude and expectation.

What is attitude? What is attitude? Altitude is a certain way of thinking, feeling or behavior towards a place, a person, object or situation. I take it again, attitude is a settled.

Is already settled. A settled way of thinking, feeling, behaving towards a person, object or situation. You can remark that there are times something will happen, something sudden will happen. Someone will just shout Jesus.

Because this is something that comes over time. So it's already settled. A settled way of thinking, feeling towards a person or an object. Now the second word there is expectation.

What is the meaning of expectation? A Spartan is waiting eagerly for something to happen. Waiting eagerly for something to happen. For instance, when you promise your child, I'll buy a bicycle for you, once you take the first position, even if it takes two months before the promise is being fulfilled, that child will keep expecting that bicycle.

Even if it takes one year, that child will not forget that bicycle. So that brings us to our topic, basically, which says the attitude of expectancy. The attitude of expectancy. Our anchor scripture is Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1 is a popular scripture, popular passage of the Bible.

He says, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1. Now faith.

I take it again. Now, faith is the substance of things that you are hoping for or for things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Like you've not seen it, but you have evidence of it. I want us to remark and take note that it is not possible to be hopeless and be faith filled.

It is not possible for someone to be hopeless and be what? Faith filled. In other words, a hopeless person cannot be filled with faith. And we, Paul can remark that in the Bible, verse 15 when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith?

The devil is busy attacking the faith of everybody of every Christian that should be. In Luke, chapter 18, verse 8, Luke 18:8, he says, nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith? Why is it that Jesus did not ask any other question, but ask for faith? Shall he find faith in the heaven?

So if anything is attacking your home, that means it's attacking your faith. If someone is hopeless, that means the person can never be faith filled. Jesus said, if the Son of Man comes, shall he find faith? Here, why you can see that.

For instance, let's consider our government. People no longer have faith in the government. That's why we are busy sourcing out our own electricity to go to every household. Many people have their own alternative supply power supply.

You have your own borehole you are not depending on the government to give you water in the longer you have your own transport system there. Why but there are you still pay your tax. Now these are the basic amenities that you are meant to get after paying your tax that the government is meant to so we are living in a time or in a country where people no longer have faith in the government. So imagine when you no longer have faith or when someone does not have faith in God.

That means the person will be busy looking around to solve his or her own problem by herself. That's looking for alternative. Little wonder Jesus asked that question in Luke 18:8. He said, nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith in the heaven?

So I said, don't forget that it is impossible to be hopeless and be faith filled. It is not possible for you to be hopeless and be faith filled. From our anchor scripture, that is in Hebrews 11, chapter one, it is clear that faith is the substance of things that we hope for. Which means that no one can be hopeless and still be full of faith.

Faith is the substance of things that we go through, which means that no one, nobody on earth can be what? Hopeless and be full of faith. It's not possible. People of faith are strangers to despair, Despair and discouragement.

Little one of the Bible says, take the shield of faith with which you quench the fairy dust of the enemy. Discouragement will come, but because that shield is there, it will not come to you. The people of faith are strangers toward despair and discouragement. They are strangers to it.

Ah, that's why when men say there is a casting down, you shall see there is what A lifting up. You are not speaking based on your present or present happenings. You are not talking from the premise of things that are happening around you, but you are speaking from a realm. From a realm, from an understanding.

People are busy crying or you are saying, no, my change, my own is different. Before there can be faith, there must first of all be hope. The attitude of acceptance Hopefulness goes with expectation or the attitude of expectancy. Hopefulness goes with the expectation or attitude of expectancy.

If you are not expectation, how will you even know that God has answered your prayers? If we are not expecting something like we come to church, we pray, and after praying we go. How will you know that God has answered the prayers that he made if you are not expecting those things that you pray for he said, when you start praying, believe. If we just make an experiment, like one day after service, you just ask people and you prayed in church.

They say, yes. What do you ask God for? Let's ask and know if they can remember what they prayed about. If they can remember, sure the answers will come.

This might be the reasons why answers are not common. Because we are not expectation. We might just finish praying and we leave the church premises without remembering what we pray for. Not to talk of the prayers we make every day in our homes.

I pray God to help us in that. Having an expectation means living with the mindset that something good, something positive, exciting is about to happen. Something good, something positive, it's about to happen. It is being permanently on the lookout for divine manifestation.

Someone is watching, looking for divine manifestation. The prophet Elijah, I could imagine when he met the first prayer, nothing happened. He sent his servant to the river to check what was happening. And nothing happened for how many times.

Yet he had that faith. He had that faith. He didn't lose hope. He didn't lose hope.

He believed. And he came to pass. That rain fell that very day. And when he saw the sign, he asked his about Rome.

Go and tell the king. Run down to your house, for there is a sign of evil persons. You see, in Job, chapter 14, verse 14, Job said something. Job 14.

14. Job said something. He said, all the days of my appointed time will I wait. You might change.

Come. You see, Job is the oldest book of the Bible as we know. I saw something here. This is someone prophesying about the restoration of the day.

Even many years ago. He said, all the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change comes. See, if a man dies. Let me read that scripture.

I want to read it. Thank you. Job 14, verse 14. He says, if a man died, shall he live again?

All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come. He started prophesying about resurrection, that we shall be changed, as confirmed in the Scriptures. So Job, in all the days of our appointed time, according to him, he said, we wait. So no matter my present condition.

Like, in other words, he's saying that no matter my present condition, my expectation for change remains sharp and intact. My expectation for change remains sharp and what intelligent. No matter what I'm facing, no matter what is coming. But one of our songs says, let those who will stay in Egypt.

Now I am bound for Canaan. Yemen is going. So no matter what they come, those thorns may pierce my feet. It's part of our song too.

To Keep moving. Job believed that ah, despite all these afflictions that befell them, he will wait till what his change comes. And he saw it, he manifested in his life and his change really came. And he lived to testify.

In the Acts of Apostles, chapter three, chapter three, verse talking about the man, verse five, I take that. And he gave him unto them, expecting to receive something from them. This is hope. And Peter fastened in verse 4 he said, and Peter fastened his eyes upon him with John and said, look at us.

So the man gave heed unto them. It's concerning the man at the beautiful gate. Now, the Bible did not say he was expecting money gone wrong. The Bible did not say that he was expecting to receive money specifically, but he was expecting something from them.

He was expecting something from that. That expectation positioned the man at the beautiful gate for a life transforming miracle. His life changed just in a twinkle of an eye. Now don't forget that this man has been lame from his mother's womb.

And before someone can reach the category of or be classified as a man, that person is over 30 years or must be up to 30 years. So that means over 30 years of this man's life he has been what, lame from his room. So he has been expecting for about 30 years or more, minimum of 30 years he has been what inexpect that. And God did it for him.

God did it for him and that changed his life. Someone that did not even imagine that he would walk again. Like he never knew it would have happened that day. It's just that he expected to receive something.

He was expected to receive something from Peter. And his story changed within a short one. I will consider another passage of the Bible as of Apostles chapter 14. I'll read from verse 8 to 10 as of Apostles 14:8 to 10.

And there sat a certain man at listed impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked as apostles 14, verse 8 to the same heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding him, that is Paul beholding him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed. This place is so much touching. He had faith to be healed. That means Paul was preaching.

And this man who has been crippled from his mother home had faith that he would be healed. He was hopeful that he would be healed then which made Paul to say to him with a loud voice, stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. Paul saw something in him.

He saw something in him. He said, who steadfastly beholding him in Fact in that verse 9. And perceiving that he had faith to be what? Healed.

Healed. Paul was just preaching. He was just preaching. But this man was just looking at and had faith immediately under the hearing of what Paul was preaching.

Now, Paul seeing that and saw steadfastly beholding him that he had faith to be healed. You see, that faith gave him or brought about the healing. He has been crippled from his womb, from his mother's womb. There was a magnetic expectation.

Let me use it that way. A magnetic expectation in that crippled man. Pause for that magnetic expectation in that man's eyes. He saw it and his faith pulled the miracle towards him.

His faith pulled that miracle towards him. You see those. Or this kind of magnetic exposition is the kind of expectation that pulls manifestations. It's the kind of expectation that pulls what manifestation?

There was this kind of expectation. Even Elijah displayed it. I saw Elijah displayed it towards Elisha when he was about to be taken home. Even when they got to Jericho, Elijah was like, and God has sent me to Jericho dying here.

He said, no, he was expecting the mantle from his Master. So he followed him, despite all discouragements, even from the sons of the prophets. And I can imagine after receiving the mantle, visiting the same. Judah and I were like, where is the God of Elijah?

At Jordan parted. He stood the mantle and he parted. And even one funny thing is that those people that try discouraging him when he saw or when they saw him, that he has parted the river. They now knew that the power or the spirit that was on Elijah has rested on Elisha.

Is still the same people that tried discouraging the blind patima that later encouraged him. He said, check up, the Master is calling. He still the same people, still the same people that discourage him. They rebuked him.

Hold your peace. Hold your peace. That is, if they are sharing things, they will remember those that are weak first of all and give to them instead of those that are sleeping. He said, the share is not enough for the people that are weak not to talk about people that are sleeping or asleep.

So every crowd that was following Jesus, they've not received the full share. Not to talk of someone that is still blind. There are people that can see, but somehow, somehow God considered him, Jesus considered him, and he still partook. He took part of the shame.

Now, what is expectation as expectation as you are? Expectation is the substance of acting hope, number one. Expectation is the survival of acting hopeful. A time will come when you are hopeful about a situation that you have a pictorial image or picture an image of what you are hopeful, you draw a plan of a building before building a building.

Yes, you have a picture of what you are hoping for. Let's read in Romans 4:15 as he spoke about Abraham. Abraham. Romans 4:18. Who against hope?

This is so much, so much interesting. He said, who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations? According to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be. Bible speaking, it says.

And Abraham believed and it was attributed to him for what? Righteousness by faith. He said, who against hope he brought in hope. How can you have a hope that someone of 100 years will give birth?

He did not consider even his wife. God told him that he would become the father of many nations. Father of nations. And he believed.

Some things are just contrary. Like we can say that. No, I don't think this will happen, womanly speaking. But here is Abraham, as the Bible records.

In Romans chapter 4, verse 18 he said, who against who believe in hope that he might become the father of many nations? According to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be. At times nowadays if someone says something without writing it down, you cannot hold the person accountable to it. But when it's written or you have a record of it or video, that's when you can hold the person.

But when it's written and signed, the person cannot deny it. This was just a spoken word to Abraham. And he believed his petition. Keeps with my life.

Expectation keeps hope alive. I can see that it is the freedom from hopelessness. Expectation is a freedom from what? Hopelessness.

Hopelessness. If you are expectation, you will be hopeful. Now the second point. I said expectation is the substance of things.

Hopeful. The first one, that's the first one. The second point now would be expectation is desperation for divine manifestation. Expectation is the desperation for divine manifestation.

Expectation is the desperation for divine manifestation. Elijah was desperate that something will happen. And it happened. He did not slack in his prayers.

Did not slack in his prayers. And God really answered him. Even when he called down fire. When he called down fire within him and the prophets of God, he even mocked them by saying, he said.

Three times, four times, he had to count of 12. They pour, they pour and pour the game such that in fact people will start admiring. So you want this sacrifice to burn and you're pouring it over. How do you expect it to burn?

I know that some people will start even saying ah, ah. I'm not sure if this will work. Imagine the prophets of BAAL that did not put water in their home yet. No fire.

But Elijah did. All this to show something and that expectation that God will manifest himself and answer him in fire. Fire brought about a great change in the land and he was feared. He did not do it to give glory to himself, but to God to give glory to God.

When we are desperate to see the move of God because you believe he will manifest himself, you are a desperate seeker of God because you totally believe and repent that God will surely manifest Himself in that situation that you are passing through. That expectation keeps or searching. You keep searching. You keep believing.

You keep looking unto Him. He said looking unto Jesus. The Attitude of Eschat if we really want to see the manifestation of God in our midst, we need to keep going alive. We need to be a expectation.

We need to be expectation. We need to maintain an attitude of expectancy. Because when our expectations are in place, our faith remains alive. When your expectation is in place, your faith will remain alive.

You keep expecting God to move and he will manifest his power one day in our lives. Even in our midst and our churches. In Jesus name I. I wish that we can be hopeful and refuse to entertain any form of hopelessness in our lives. Let us keep our expectation alive and wake up daily.

Every day we wake up. Let's expect something. Amen. Let's receive something from God.

Bring us life filled with expectation and hope filled life so that our faith will remain alive. Amen.
