Slaves to Righteous Living

True Christian identity extends beyond being children or friends of God; it requires embracing the role of a "bondservant" or slave to Jesus Christ. While modern believers often prioritize the comforts of sonship, a balanced spiritual life necessitates a total transfer of ownership. Biblical freedom is not the liberty to do as one pleases, but the joyful alignment of one’s will with Christ’s. Every person is a slave to something; one is either a slave to the sinful flesh or a slave to righteousness. Unlike a hired servant who works for a wage under a contract, a slave is legally owned by the Master, meaning their entire livelihood and purpose are determined solely by Him.

Practically, living as a slave to righteousness means relinquishing personal rights and the world's emphasis on "self." It requires total submission where the Master’s commands are not optional or subject to personal opinion. A true bondservant does not pick and choose which scriptures to obey based on comfort but accepts the whole counsel of God. This identity should transform a believer's mindset from seeing service as a choice to seeing it as a duty. By fully submitting to Christ's authority, believers find true liberation from the bondage of sin and the power to live a disciplined, righteous life that honors God.
